Daily Lab Dish explains what laboratory testing actually measures. We cover three overlapping areas: the clinical tests that appear on medical reports, the bench science and instrumentation that produce laboratory evidence, and the independent testing of food and supplements.
The common thread is mechanism. Plenty of publications will tell you that a number is high or low. Far fewer explain how the instrument arrived at that number, what assumptions sit behind it, and the specific circumstances in which it misleads. That gap is where we work.
What we cover
- Lab Tests & Diagnostics — what clinical tests measure, how results are produced, and how to read a report without panicking.
- Lab Science & Research — bench techniques, instrumentation, and how laboratory evidence is really made.
- Food & Supplement Testing — contaminants, certification schemes, and label claims measured against data.
- Lab Careers & Equipment — qualifications, instruments, quality systems and working life at the bench.
What we are not
We are not a clinic and we do not give medical advice. Nothing here is a substitute for a conversation with a qualified clinician who knows your history. We also do not sell supplements, run affiliate storefronts, or accept payment to cover a product favourably.
Who writes here
Articles are produced by our editorial team, each covering the areas closest to their background: clinical laboratory medicine, molecular and analytical bench science, food and supplement chemistry, and laboratory operations. Our editorial policy explains how articles are produced and reviewed.
